Gearing Up At Munks

By Patti Door

On Saturday, May 7, at Munk's Motors we had one of the best turnouts ever for
the annual New Members Party and tech session for Waterford Hills Driver's
Education.

Prior to the event several people took the time to make calls to all the new
members who have joined since July 2004. I am grateful to all those who spent
the time to make the calls. It is that personal connection to our fellow members
that makes our region standout in PCA.

The day started early and the breakfast and dessert table was up and running
by 11 A.M. Dillon Walton was a huge help directing me on where the desserts
should be placed on the table. As any meal should be the “breakfast” blueberry
pie and the cheesecake were finished before the “lunch” pizza, chicken and
sandwiches arrived. All in all I would say that no one went away hungry.

One of the great things about this kind of event is that if you are looking for
that hard to find part, a new set of seats, or another Porsche for your driving
pleasure, you can ask your fellow club members and someone has just what
you are looking for, in addition to some tips and ideas that you may not have
thought about. Another great source for our members looking for the next
“must have” is Swap and Swindle in the P4.

Many of the people who came stayed around for several hours and enjoyed the
camaraderie of fellow Porsche owners and their cars. There were still people
there at 5:00.  Thank you to all of the new memberswho introduced themselves
to me, but there were so many of you that I do not think that I would pass a
match the faces with a name quiz.

I hope that the enthusiasm of these new members (and “old” members also)
continues and grows. I look forward to seeing you at other tech sessions,
dinners and track events throughout this coming year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Braden and his crew at
Munk's Motors and all the SEM members who participated in this event. Great
Job.
