After a warm-up period, each driver spent 30 minutes of high intensity "seat"
time, for a total of 2 hours per 4-person team. This produced 227 laps (+/-) and
the excitement remained at a fever pitch.
The usual suspects showed up. The Ambrus family came in full force. Pat will give
you a run for your money. Don't be put off by her warm and kind demeanor.
Dave Burton flew back from Florida to participate. It doesn't take much to egg
him on for a race. Jerry Door sent in his replacement, John Grembowski, who
helped round out the 2nd place team. He spent his time in the pits figuring out
which order Jeff Amos was driving. Jeff, who would not release any information on
this team's driving order, went last. Therefore, John did the same. John's desire
was to "give back" a few of the lessons Jeff taught him at Waterford. Slick! No
repainting or bumping of metal required when you get home either.
Don Klahre gave it a good run. Howard Gilson, an eyes-on favorite, repeated that
he got a dog of a Kart. Seems his technical training in the automotive world was
not enough to bypass the governor. We are sure he will have it figured out next
time.
If you have not participated in this Enduro race, it is hard to convey how much
fun it really is. The Kart and track makes for the most competitive environment
you could desire. Because of the bumper guard around the Kart, we can "trade
paint" without the ramifications it has at Waterford Raceway. We are able to
experience the thrill without risking life or limb. If the Kart breaks down, they
give you a new one. No headaches or expense! This is the best deal in town.
Cheaper than a shrink and more effective too! Release all your anxieties without
the services of an exorcist. Just plan on being a little sore the next few days.
We have already started planning the next one. See you there.
