Porsche Corral at Cranbrook Concours d'Elegance - 2005
Sunday, July 24, the day of the third annual Concours d'Elegance at the Cranbrook Educational Community, began with a number of severe thunderstorms. We were to meet on the campus at 9:30 for some pre-event refreshments. But at that time, heavy rain was all that could be seen. The skies started to clear, only to have more severe weather move through. At my place, the heavy weather persisted until a bit after noon. From then on there was blue skies and sunshine. The morning rain kept many from attending.
But a hearty few club members did manage to make it to Cranbrook. But because of the low turnout and the staggered arrivals, a true Porsche corral did not form. But the Concours did happen in the afternoon, although not all of the cars were shown. For those who ventured out, they saw some fine examples of vintage cars and shared camaraderie with other SEM members and their families.
Although the bad weather kept teh attendance down, 28 SEM members bought tickets.
This allowed us to donate $500 to the Women's Survival Center in Bloomfield Hills.
